This one is my favorite, you use this space every day so it really should work for you. Here are a few techniques. First, turn all your clothes hangers the opposite way and when you wear something rotate the hanger. This way you can see what you are wearing. You can do this for a month or 3 months. You could also do this in winter and summer to capture all your seasonal items in case you rotate items due to season. Any items where you didn’t rotate the hanger get donated. The second option is to take all clothes out of the closet and onto the bed and if you haven’t worn it in a year donate it. For expensive items you can sell them, you set the cost limit for donate versus sell. As for shoes, it’s the same if you haven’t worn them in a year let them go. You can typically tell this if there is a layer of dust on them. After the purging, you can put all shirts together, pants together, and dresses. Ensure shirt fronts are facing the same way. I then organize them by rainbow color-coding. I also separate work attire from casual by sectioning. I probably have about 30 to 40 items of clothing and about 10 shoes. I wear them all and replace them when they are worn or ill-fitting. Don’t forget folded items and underwear sock drawers. If you haven’t worn them in a year let them go. My jewelry fits into a small box and if I don’t wear a piece I turn it into one I will wear. Let me know how it goes.
