For me, this room needs to have healthy simple ingredients and tools to create meals to nourish me. Therefore, if I haven’t used an appliance, tool, or dish in a year it needs to go because it’s clutter. Also important to check the dates on food & spices by reviewing the refrigerator and cupboards/pantry to get rid of any expired items. You can dispose of freezer items that have visible freezer burn. Creating a zen space for me with minimal items for ease fuels my soul. It is also important for the placement of items in this place, there should be zones where items live like the coffee station or pots and pans near the stove.
In looking at the tools it’s great to ensure they support the quest to make nourishing meals. Look at my silverware. Does anyone choose a certain fork for salad versus dinner? What about the different sizes of spoons? I also chose a special color but the fine print said don’t use a citrus detergent or this happens… Does anyone know of a simple sustainable set of silverware? Also, what about stainless refrigerators said to be fingerprint resistant but are not, has anyone used a magnetic cover or peel-and-stick cover to combat this? Thankful to have a refrigerator and silverware just think improvements are needed and they might just be simplifying.
